Exotic metal
We buy molybdenum and sorted molybdenum residues, including bar, sheet, wire, components and production or cutting residues. Because molybdenum is also used as an alloying element, pure Mo must be distinguished from molybdenum-bearing alloys. For Benelux lots and international enquiries, send photos, estimated weight and available material data for an initial assessment.

Lot forms
Molybdenum occurs in several technical product forms, but it is also used as an alloying element in other metals. Pure or dedicated Mo material should therefore not automatically be mixed with alloys that only contain molybdenum.
Material & application
A component containing molybdenum is not automatically pure molybdenum. The element is also used in various steels and high-performance alloys, making this distinction essential for commercial sorting.
For furnace parts, machine components or production residues, a material code, certificate and known application can help place the material correctly. Form — such as bar, sheet, wire or machining residue — also provides useful context.
Identification
The label molybdenum does not always show whether the material is pure or alloyed. A material code, certificate, application and indicative analysis can help classify the lot.
When labels are missing, equipment documentation, part numbers and indicative analysis may help. Avoid mixing suspected Mo material with steel or nickel alloys until its identity is sufficiently clear.

A handheld XRF analyser can provide an indicative elemental composition for many metals and alloys. This supports sorting and commercial assessment; where certified laboratory analysis is required, we discuss this in advance.

Valuation
Value depends strongly on whether the lot is molybdenum, a known Mo grade or another alloy containing molybdenum. Correct classification comes first.
Molybdenum, a known Mo grade and an Mo-bearing alloy are different streams.
Actual chemical composition determines classification.
Solid bar and sheet differ from fine machining or production residues.
Oil, oxides, coatings and attached foreign metals affect sorting.
Labels, certificates and known applications reduce uncertainty.
Lot size and current outlet conditions influence the proposal.
Practical questions
No. Molybdenum is used as an alloying element in many materials; the full composition determines correct classification.
Yes. Send photos and information about application, material code and condition so we can assess the next step.
Where the grade is known, yes. Separated material is easier and more accurate to assess.
For many metals, indicative XRF analysis can help examine composition. Additional verification may still be needed depending on the material.
