Specialist metal
Do you have beryllium metal, copper-beryllium (BeCu), a traceable beryllium alloy or technical parts? Contact us first with photos, weight, material data and condition. Beryllium-bearing dust and fine material require additional safety attention, so we assess the lot before further handling or transport.

Lot forms
Beryllium is used as a pure metal, but is much more commonly encountered in alloys such as copper-beryllium. Because material type and exposure risk can differ substantially, we first assess the form and condition of the lot.
Material & application
Beryllium-bearing dust, fumes or fine particles can present serious health risks. Do not grind, saw, sand or file unknown material that may contain beryllium in an attempt to identify it.
Keep the lot intact, separate and clearly marked. Send photos and material information first. We can then assess whether further identification, packaging or logistics are appropriate and under what conditions.
Identification
For copper-beryllium, an alloy designation, certificate, part number and known application are the safest first clues. The material does not need to be ground or filed to start an assessment.
Handheld XRF cannot directly measure beryllium because beryllium is too light for conventional handheld XRF. On copper-beryllium, the analyser can still measure other alloying elements and may sometimes help identify a grade. Another analytical method may be required to confirm beryllium content.

Handheld XRF does not directly measure beryllium. In copper-beryllium alloys, the other alloying elements can still provide clues to the alloy family, but another analytical method may be required to confirm Be content. Do not grind or sand unknown Be-suspect material for identification.

Estimated weight and postcode help assess logistics.
Certificates, grade, origin and part numbers where available.
We advise what information, analysis or logistics are required.
Valuation
For beryllium-bearing lots, material identity, concentration, condition and safe processability come before a price indication. We therefore first assess whether the lot can be handled appropriately and responsibly.
Pure beryllium, copper-beryllium, nickel-beryllium and other materials are different streams.
Concentration and known alloy specification are important for classification and assessment.
Solid intact parts require a different approach from powder, dust, grindings or fine machining residues.
Certificates, grade, part numbers and origin information help avoid unnecessary handling.
Coatings, oil, assembled components and unknown contamination influence the route.
Packaging, location, quantity and permitted handling need to be clear before transport.
Practical questions
No. Do not create dust or fine material for identification. Keep the material intact and first send photos, markings and available documentation.
You can submit traceable BeCu lots for assessment. We first review grade, material form, condition, quantity and safe logistics.
No. Appearance alone is not reliable identification. An alloy number, certificate, part number or controlled analysis is needed.
Contact us first and avoid unnecessary movement or processing. Fine beryllium-bearing material requires specific safety and processing measures and is assessed case by case.
